Cocoa Butter

Cocoa butter is made from whole cocoa beans, which are fermented, roasted and then separated from their hulls. A little more than half of the residue is cocoa butter, and this is then extracted from the cocoa beans.

It is a pale-yellow, edible vegetable fat, high in saturated fats, and antioxidants. One type of antioxidant is known as polyphenols and the polyphenols found in cocoa are amazing: it aids in the fighting of various chronic diseases, degeneration of the skin, lessening sensitivities and even cell mutations.

lt is also known as one of the best moisturising agents available. That is because it doesn’t just moisturise, it helps heal the skin from the inside: improving skin elasticity, collagen retention and production, as well as deep hydration. Because of the unique melting point of cocoa butter, it is easily absorbed into the skin, which makes this quite the perfect moisturising agent!

Cocoa butter also provides a protective layer on the skin, locking in the moisture, and protecting the skin from the natural elements.

There are a lot of studies proving the health benefits of cocoa butter, both to ingest and to apply on the skin, and you are welcome to read them in these links:
